"Take your seat next to your sister, Jason," my aunt instructs me. 

My thirteen-year-old self glances down at the floor and notices a grid painted into the floor of the temple. Different elaborate runes filled the boxes, spread out with both a chaotic yet precise positioning. I sit on the ground with my legs crossed behind the gridline.

The service begins with a man I don't recognize at the altar. Their words mean little to me, so I let my mind drift away to more entertaining thoughts. Until a sudden jerk rips me back to the present. I look around but don't see anyone nearby who might have grabbed me.

Another jerk slams my right shoulder up against a wall that shouldn't exist. I'm at least a dozen feet from the nearest edge of the room, yet the air beside me feels as flat and hard as a marble floor. The tugs persist, forcing my head against the invisible wall, and I cry out.

"Shh!" my aunt whispers from behind as though I weren't flailing desperately to escape.

"Help me!" I plea, yet neither she nor anyone around me seems to notice the struggle.

The pressure has built up until the entirety of my body is pressed against the barrier. A throbbing pain forces tears from my eyes as my voice grows more desperate. 

"Somebody!"

My right leg snaps like a twig, ripping open both fabric and flesh as a new toe pokes through the opening. I groan and wail. throwing my arms around like a rag doll. The toe grows into a foot, which grows into a leg, my hips burst apart as a second hip emerges from within. I feel a great tug from my flesh, yanked downward. The new body sinks into the barrier, ripping its way out of my body. I feel my inside drawn outward as the new flesh sinks into nowhere. My ribs collapse like a crushed soda can and the last thing I feel is my skull crack inside my own head as everything that I am is sucked away into the void

Guardians of Mistforge

I hope you’re stepping into 2026 with a good book in hand (or playing in your ear). As the calendar turns, I’ve been making progress on multiple fronts and wanted to share some updates with you all.

Guardians of Mistforge

Progress is being made on Celoven Book 2, albeit slowly. My new years resolution is to make better progress faster and hopefully have it published before 2027.

Thank you for being here—whether you started with Celoven and are anxiously awaiting Book 2 or discovered me through one of my short stories. Here’s to a new year of stories, imagination, and everything still waiting to be written.
